MATTHEW TAYLOR
GAME DEVELOPER
ABOUT ME
Hello! My name's Matthew, and I've been playing games for as long as I can remember. Eight years ago, I got the amazing opportunity to build them as well, and I've been a software engineer on five shipped editions of Football Manager as well as several massive-scale multiplayer experiences for Improbable. After a short break to recharge, I'm currently looking for my next opportunity remotely within the UK.

Although I got into the industry as an engineer, I love to design stuff as well! I was creating pen-and-paper Tamagotchi-style games for my friends by the age of 11; my childhood notepads are littered with drawings of race tracks, chapters of stories and anything in between. This passion and active imagination carried through into adulthood as well, as I ran two successful D&D campaigns over the course of a year, one of which was a homebrew.

I'm also deeply passionate about continuous development; I ran a GDC Lunch Club at Sports Interactive, had started spearheading a cross-discipline learning initiative at Improbable just before I left and am a voracious consumer of books, talks and anything that will help me get a new perspective.

Outside of work, I'm a club chess player, occasional writer and nowadays less-occasional team sports participant. I'm also a former competitive gamer: amongst other things, I have a world first raid completion in Destiny, have been top 100 in the world in both ranked formats of MTG Arena and have commentated Starcraft 2 live at the Emirates Stadium. More recently I play with a high-level Mythic raiding guild in World of Warcraft.
